We went to our kids parent teacher conferences tonight. We enjoy going to these because we want to see how they are doing and how they seem to be interacting with other kids. It is good to see what other people see in them. Not that we would be bias or anything. We just know they are brilliant. As I heard the teacher talk about my son she said he seems to lead other kids when they break up into small groups. That is something that I couldn’t see as much at home since he has a big sister and he loves to follow here. He is however, getting a little more independent. Our daughter is done pretty well and is a big reader. It’s just amazing to see them develop. I have great dreams for them and I want them to succeed at whatever they do. I know that each of them has gifts and abilities and I want to help them develop those gifts. Most of all I want them to have a loving, compassionate, and hopeful spirit. I want them to continue to live in such a way as to express these things in everything they say, do or think. Each of us has something inside of us as well. We have gifts and talents and abilities. God has given them to us. As we come to him and except Jesus as our savior we get spiritual gifts. No matter whether it is a natural gifting such as music or whether it is the gift of serving, preaching or others they are to be surrendered to God. He wants us to develop these and use them to minister to the church and the world. We cannot just look at what we see on the outside and judge what a person will be capable of doing. God doesn’t look on the outside but on the inside. He desires a heart that is filled with love, seeks truth and loves justice. As parents it is our duty and great privilage to help our children develop their gifts. We must give guidance to them but also give them the freedom to explore different areas. As we do this we will see them blossom into the people that God desires them to be. Look to see what’s really there. You may be suprised at the great things you find.
Thanks for joinng me
